All you need to know

Wey Valley Rifle and Pistol Club (WVRPC)(1760) is a small friendly club dedicated to giving our members an interesting and varied shooting experience and to providing new members with an introduction to safe shooting.

The Club shoots a variety of disciplines including:Air rifleSmall-bore (22LR)Full-bore (Short, Medium and Long range)Muzzle-loadingClay PigeonWVRPC is a Home Office Approved Club and an associate member of the UK National Rifle Association, the National Small-bore Rifle Association, LMRA and the Surrey County Small-bore Rifle Association. The Club and its members are insured for all relevant activities. We do not have our own shooting range, but hire ranges such as those at the NRA Bisley Camp. During the winter months, we generally meet indoors at the Basingstoke Rifle Club at Odiham, shooting .22 rimfire and

air rifles on Friday evenings.

During the summer we use a variety of the ranges at Bisley at weekends, from 25 meters to 1000 yards, but also go further afield on special events such as shooting to One mile in Wales and shooting at Chobham Ridge.Club membership is currently £150 per year for adults and £100 for juniors; this includes the opportunity to shoot most weeks of the year.Anyone is welcome to apply for membership apart from ‘Prohibited persons’ under Section 21 of the Firearms Act 1968; if you have not had a custodial sentence then you are very unlikely to be prohibited.Potential new members are invited to attend a club meeting but are not allowed to handle firearms on this first visit. They will be asked to complete a membership form, meet other club members and observe so as to become familiar with our procedures.

Details on the form are submitted to the Police. On a second visit, new members are allowed to shoot under strict supervision, with firearms and ammunition provided free of charge. Probationary membership may then be offered and will be confirmed on receipt of the fee which is currently £35 for adults, £20 for Juniors. Probationary members are expect to attend the range a minimum of 12 times over a three to four month period. During this time they will receive instruction in the safe handling of firearms and tuition in marksmanship from our qualified instructors. Club guns are available for use and ammunition may be purchased (but not taken away) at cost. Our training is based around small-bore (.22) shooting at 25m but there will be opportunities to try different calibres and longer range shooting. Safety is critical. Any major lapse, or repeated minor lapses in procedure or unsafe behaviour will result in Membership being withdrawn; no refund of fees will be made.Training and practice for Probationary members will need to start with .22 at Basingstoke Range or at any club range booking

throughout the year which allows .22 rifles.

All club range dates and times are available on our websites www.1760.club or www.weyvalleyrpc.org.uk as soon as they become available. At the successful completion of the Probationary period we hope you will have enjoyed yourself and learned how to safely handle and shoot a firearm. If you decide shooting is not for you there is no obligation to continue but if you do wish to continue then Full membership may be offered. To free up club guns
